Important Information
We enjoy taking children out on excursions, it is a great learning experience for the young ones. Belize is a great place to come on vacation with your kids. We have small snorkeling equipment sizes for kids and child life jackets. There are some tours that do not fit the needs of children under 7 years like Cave Tubing, Zip Line Canopy Tour, Horseback Riding, Blue Hole Snorkel, Night Snorkel and Turneffe Atoll Snorkel. These trips can either be too long on a boat or because of safety concerns, Zipline for example. We certainly make it a great responsibility to us to carry young children on our excursions. Most of our tours we do not charge a fee to carry children under the age of 8 years. Our most popular snorkeling excursion with young children is Local Reef Snorkeling and Hol Chan Marine Reserve.
Here are some things to consider when going on trips.
Heat and sunstroke. On board our boats we have a shade canopy and provide water and fruit. While snorkeling there is no shade protection. Please make sure you have proper sun block protection and also have extra t-shirt to cover up your back in case of too much sun. Make sure you drink plenty of water.
Weather can sometimes change quickly in Belize. We do not go out if the weather is not appropriate for the tour offered. Tropical rain clouds can approach and drop heavy rain and can bring strong breeze for a short or longer period. This also causes the seas to become locally rough. Unpleasant weather conditions can upset the trip. We may not be able to reach land immediately.
Motion Sickness – does not affect everyone. If it affects you it is unpleasant. We many not be able to reach land immediately. We recommend you consider motion sickness tablets. We do not offer refunds for motion sickness, sorry.
Mechanical Tsunami Adventures boats are licensed and insured. The Yamaha outboard engine is considered one of the best marine engines in the world. In the unlikely even of mechanical difficulty, we will call for help of another boat. This may take time depending on the situation at hand.
Food We provide food on all of our day trips, unless otherwise noted. If you have any food allergies or special request that we can not deliver, we suggest that you bring your own food and we can apply a discount, equivalent to the cost of the food that is provided for that trip. For tours that are free for children, we ask only to pay for the cost of the food offered if you choose. We offer vegetarian lunches. We do not offer specials meals for diabetics, food allergies or similar.
Consderation We have people from all over the world enjoying the tours. We need to be considerate to everyone on the tour.
Cancellation Policy on Tours
Almost all tours are refundable, however there are some exceptions. The dive excursions count on numbers, if you cancel last minute due to change of mind, there is no refund, because if you cancel we may have to cancel everyone else. If you have to cancel because you are sick, we require a doctors notice, which can be obtained by the local doctor on the Caye. In case of bad weather and we have to cancel prior to the tour departing our dock, we offer to re-book or we refund your money. Each cancellation is looked at individually. There may be a cancellation fee.
Private Charters
When we book you for a private charter, we ask for a $200USD deposit. The reason we ask for the deposit is we need to prepare for the trip. This includes coming into the Belize City from Caye Caulker. If we show up to meet you and you have changed your mind and you want to cancel, the deposit is non refundable. Sometimes, we have to cancel because of bad weather. We will offer you refund only if the cancellation is received prior to us reaching Belize City. We request that you call us or email us the day before the tour departure day to reconfirm tour. Please also check www.hydromet.gov.bz for up to date weather about Belize. Each cancellation is looked at individually as certain circumstances may apply.
